“The final period of the Louis XIV style is perhaps best represented by Jean Berain the Elder. Berain designed not only interiors but settings for all kinds of royal functions. He is notable for a kind of grotesque ornament especially characteristic of the last decades of the King's reign, which influenced the course taken by later rococo artists”.
The baguette Bérain has been a specialty in our workshop for over 40 years; I decided to give it a second life and decided to combine it with a colder material. So I created this double-framed mirror with gilded plaster inside of industrial brushed steel.
We always age our glass mirrors in order to give them a more aged look—a rare and dangerous process that we perform in our workshop.
